The Charitable Foundation was created in 1968 at the New Jersey Lions Multiple District Convention.
The purpose of the Foundation is fully charitable in nature and includes, but is not limited to, the fostering and promotion of rehabilitation programs, sight conservation, research and preservation programs, and any other programs which may be adopted from time to time.
The Foundation uses every penny for sight projects, hearing programs and any other projects related to Lions goals or missions. The Foundation was created to fund work, service and projects on a much larger scale than local clubs are normally able to do alone. Funds are disbursed to Trustee approved and District 16-B Lions Club sponsored requests with one time Grants and through interest free Loans. Every year, new Grants and new Loans provide the funding needed to accomplish Lions Club goals.
The Foundation has no paid employees and is operated fully by volunteers from each Region in Sub District 16-B. There are nine Trustees that include two from each Region and the current District Governor.
The Foundation derives most of its funding from proceeds of its annual Charity Ball, an annual 50/50 Raffle, and donations from Businesses and New Jersey Lions Clubs. All proceeds from these fund raising activities go directly into projects of the Foundation.
